TECHNOLOGY TRAINING UPDATES

Navigate Advising – All full-time faculty are expected to complete Navigate Advising training prior to the end of spring semester.

• 10 sessions are scheduled prior to Spring Break
• 2 sessions are scheduled for Friday, March 22
• 4 sessions are scheduled for May 13 & 14

Canvas Intro – As Blackboard expires at the end of spring semester, all courses will be in Canvas beginning with summer classes and moving forward to fall 2019. Learn the basic features of the college's NEW Learning Management System used for delivering instructional materials to students as well as creating engaging virtual learning environments. NOTE: All faculty are expected to complete Canvas Intro and it is a prerequisite to CETL’s Canvas Clinics


Canvas Gradebook - Learn the features Canvas Gradebook when grading assignments, quizzes and discussions. Rubrics will also be covered as well as the Canvas SpeedGrader feature. NOTE: Canvas Intro is a prerequisite to this session. 


Canvas Multimedia - Canvas Multimedia training will cover the use and management of various multimedia files in your Canvas course. You will learn the best practices of Google Drive Integration with Canvas to upload video, audio and other files into your course. Also covered will be Arc, Canvas’s communication tool that allows instructors and students to actively collaborate through video and audio media. NOTE: Canvas Intro is a prerequisite to this session.

Classified PDO Day

• OneDrive – All college employees have access to Microsoft OneDrive through our Office365 accounts. OneDrive offers users a simple way to store, sync and share all kinds of files, with other people and devices on the Web. Explore this hands-on session to learn more.

• Open Labs for Blackboard and Canvas
• January 8 -17 (PRC & DTC)
• This are not formal trainings but rather opportunities to assist with both Learning Management Systems. No sign-up is required.
• Office 365 Email - Adjunct Faculty are encouraged to attend one of these sessions for important information regarding your Reynolds.edu email account. Office 365 Email is accessed through a browser. However, full-time faculty and staff are also welcome to attend.

CANVAS TRAINING SESSIONS!

The new Learning Management System (LMS) for the college is officially Canvas and will be in full swing Summer 2019! Not too worry, change is GOOD. 

Technology Training Services is conducting Canvas Introduction sessions for fall and spring semesters.

• ALL faculty are urged to attend one of these technology sessions by the end of Spring 2019 semester. Day, evening and Saturday sessions are scheduled at DTC and PRC.

• If you plan to teach with Canvas spring semester, please sign up for a session October 29 - November 16. Spring 2019 sessions will be announced before winter break.

• These sessions will focus on the differences between Blackboard and Canvas, Canvas' features and functions, and are a pre-requisite to the "Canvas Clinics" offered by the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL)

• If you attend the VCCS October 24th training, you will be ready to attend the "Canvas Clinics" conducted by CETL
