2016 expects new technology with Microsoft upgrades and the Reynolds Intranet. As we all know, these changes will also bring new challenges. We will keep you informed with the latest changes and challenges as they are revealed. In the meantime, to request a training topic, group or individual training, please click on the Request Training button located under our calendar. 

To register for any of the topics below, or to see detailed information for each session, click on our calendar to the right of the page. 

Blackboard Basic:
  • Blackboard Basic will be offered prior to Adjunct Convocation January 7, 2016 1:00 – 4:00 PM at both the PRC and DTC locations
  • Two 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM sessions offered at DTC & PRC
  • Refer to our calendar for additional Blackboard Basic sessions located at these locations

Adobe Basics and Forms - (including Digital Signature). Due to a limited amount of licenses, Adobe Basic is required to receive the Adobe Pro software and prior to attending Forms

Google Drive - Google Drive training includes Docs and Forms and is required before attending Google Sites. If you are currently using Google Drive, contact TechnologyTraining@reynolds.edu.

Google Sites PLEASE NOTE: With a new Windows operating system looming in the future, as well as a new CMS for the intranet, FrontPage will become obsolete. You may want to consider creating a new teaching site using a Google Site.

YouTube – With more faculty and departments using multimedia, storage becomes more problematic. Learn the steps to create your own channel for uploading and sharing your educational videos. You will learn the criteria for uploading, file size, privacy settings and closed captioning. Note: Video files will be provided as this session does not include producing video files.

SPRING INTO TRAINING!


Word 2013 Basic - February 25, March 10 & 12 - Learn the changes in Word 2013 and the basics if you're new to the program.

Camtasia Advanced - February 26, March 2 & 6  Learn additional features of Camtasia and SnagIt.
Note: Camtasia Basic is a prerequisite

Podcasting - February 27 - Learn to create digital media files to deliver audio and video content to students. Audacity, a free audio editor and recorder will be covered in this session.

Excel 2013 Intermediate -  March 2 & 4 - Learn additional feature of Excel 2013. Excel Basic is required prior to Excel Intermediate.

Classified Staff PDO Day!! - March 9 - New Technology sessions...stay tuned!!

SharePoint Basic - March 10 through 13 - Learn the basics of SharePoint Services.

Outlook Advanced - March 11 & 13 - Learn additional skills of Outlook 2013.

Blackboard Open Lab - March 16 & 17 - Blackboard Open Lab is designed to serve faculty on specific Blackboard questions and issues requiring one-on-one assistance. These are not structured training sessions but reservations for time slots are required.

Google Drive - March 19, 20, 23 & 24 - Google Drive is a file storage and synchronization service provided by Google with your VCCS email account, which enables user cloud storage. This session will cover documents, spreadsheets, presentations and forms.
Note: Google Drive is a prerequisite to Google Sites

Google Sites - March 20, 25 & 26 - Google Sites is a structured wiki- and web page-creation tool offered by Google.
Note: Google Drive is a prerequisite

Google Blogger - March 19, 25 & 26 - Learn the features of Blogger, a blog-publishing service, provided by Google.

Blackboard Training February 9-13


Blackboard Basic - February 9th & 13th Learn the basic features of the college’s Learning Management System used for delivering instructional materials to students as well as creating engaging virtual learning environments and other shared resources for specific groups of students. This is an entry level training which assumes you have minimal, or no prior, Blackboard experience as an instructor.

Blackboard Grade Center - February 10th & 12th Learn the features and functionality of the Blackboard Grade Center. This session includes organization of Grade Center, Full Grade Center and Needs Grading views, creating Grade Columns, providing Feedback and Inline Grading. NOTE: Blackboard Basics is a prerequisite.

Blackboard Rubrics - February 10th & 12th - Blackboard Rubrics help you evaluate student work consistently and objectively by listing evaluation criteria for any given assignment or gradable Discussion Board posting, Wiki page, Journal, or Blog entry. Rubrics can help students organize their efforts to meet the requirements of an assignment, while faculty can use rubrics to explain their evaluation to students. During grading, as scores and feedback are entered into a Rubric they are also automatically reflected in the Grade Center, which becomes a considerable time saver.
Note: Blackboard Basic is a prerequisite.

Blackboard Tests February 9th & 11th - Learn how to utilize the test feature in Blackboard. This PDO covers creating, importing, modifying and exporting of tests and creating tests pools. Respondus will also be covered to explore offline test development and converting existing tests from word processing documents.
Note: Blackboard Basic is a prerequisite.

Blackboard Collaboration Tools - February 10th & 11th - Learn to use engage your students using the following Blackboard Collaboration Tools - Discussion Boards, Journals, Wikis and Blogs. This PDO will be interactive with participants engaging in each format while learning how to create and best use each tool in their very own course.
Note: Blackboard Basic is a prerequisite

Podcasting - February 12th - Learn the basics of creating Podcasts. Digital audio or video files that are usually part of a themed series, Podcasts can be downloaded to a media player or computer. Podcasts are used in F2F or DL courses as a succinct way to deliver information to students in a flexible format. This PDO will also cover Audacity, a free audio recorder and editor.

January - March 2015

Blackboard: Basics, Advanced, Grade Center, Tests, Rubrics and Collaboration Tools. These topics, as well as several Bb Open Labs, are scheduled at both the 16 week and first 8 week sessions. 

Microsoft Office 2013: Excel Basic and Intermediate, Outlook Advanced and Word Basic. Word Intermediate, PowerPoint Basic and Intermediate will be offered later in the semester.

Adobe: Basics and Forms (including Digital Signature). Due to a limited amount of licenses, Adobe Basic is required to receive the Adobe Pro software. 

SharePoint: Basic sessions are on the calendar. Due to upcoming changes, we are unable to offer more advanced SharePoint sessions.

Camtasia: Basic and Advanced. The Advanced session now includes recording PowerPoint presentations and Closed Captioning. 

Podcasting: While Podcasting is used in Blackboard courses, this training also features Audacity which is very helpful if you're planning to attend Camtasia Advanced. 

Google Drive, Sites and Blogger: Google Drive training includes Docs and Forms and is required before attending Google Sites.
